Why choose Newport Health & Vitality?

Why choose Dr. Yazan Abdullah?

My patients call me Dr. A. I am a holistic internist who focuses on hormonal optimization and medical weight loss. I want to explain why you should choose me to manage the most critical aspect of your health: your overall health and hormones!

I am good at what I do because I love it!

I have a passion for the field, as demonstrated by my level of self-care and the fact that my patients stay with me for the long haul. Would you agree that professionals must exemplify what they profess? One of the main reasons I love my job is that patients inspire me to be healthy and fit so that I can earn their trust and inspire them. People do their job well when they love it. I hope you and I can encourage each other!

Your most valuable asset, your health, will be managed by a real doctor!

If you choose me, an actual doctor of medicine (MD), not a nurse, will evaluate you. Because of my intensive and extensive training as an MD, I earned the highest degree of knowledge of how the human body works in health and disease; this is essential with testosterone and estrogen-based therapies because these sex hormones affect almost every organ system. I will go over your diet, exercise routine, and medical history. I'm equally curious about supplements and the other medications that pseudo-doctors are prescribing to you. I offer a comprehensive program that involves all hormones, vitamin support, and management of any adverse effects; effective sex hormone therapy requires optimizing other hormones, including thyroid, growth hormone, and insulin; sometimes, this requires novel appetite suppressants such as Ozempic or Mounjaro; all these hormone-based therapies interconnect, so you want to ensure that whoever devises your treatment plan has profound knowledge of general medicine and actual clinical experience in the field, neither of which comes from some weekend course that teaches outdated information and a one-size-fits-all approach or some degree obtained online.

Most hormone-based franchises you see on social media don't have real doctors managing your health, even if they tell you otherwise! These franchises also bank on quick profits and quick patient turnover; they rely on many patients subscribing to their service for a few months, and they don't expect them to stay, so they don't have to deliver results. On the other hand, I hope you will be my patient for as long as I practice, so I must deliver results! When you become my patient, you will have my cell phone and have easy access to me. You pay to see and interact with me, a residency-trained physician and should accept nothing less.

I look closely at your fat distribution, how you stand and walk, your midsection, and your proportions before prescribing a hormone; how can this be done over Instagram or Zoom?

However, are nurse practitioners and physician assistants not receiving equivalent medical knowledge and clinical expertise as medical decision-makers?

I will let you answer that. Please see the table at the bottom of this page.

You will receive legitimate pharmaceutical-grade products!

I will never prescribe snake oil to you. I cannot say the same about social media and multi-state franchise hormone "clinics." It is unethical to prescribe "peptides" such as Sermorelin, Ipamorelin, and CJC, knowing they are all fake, ineffective, or denatured. It is mind-blowing that some of them prescribe gonadorelins and HCG, which are all, at this point, counterfeit unless they are brand medicines being shipped to you directly from a reputable pharmacy. Did you know that peptides must be stored and transported at low temperatures? Was your peptide delivered to you in a cold pack? Was it delivered to you as an unreconstituted powder? Have you ever asked these unscrupulous "clinics" to test your LH level after you inject their gonadorelin? Have you asked them to measure your HCG level after you injected their HCG? Have you asked them to measure your IGF level after you use their Sermorelin or Ipamorelin? Who is the manufacturer of your Tesamorelin? Is it increasing your IGF level? Before you paid $15,000 for that stem cell treatment, did you ask about the doctor's qualifications, the origin of the "stem cells," and in what lab were the stem cells primed to morph into the cells they're supposed to replace? These counterfeit and fake products are not only coming through "Telemed" social media franchises employing unscrupulous medical directors but also from some of California's ritziest celebrity hormone clinics! As hard as it is to believe, people in integrative and lifestyle medicine often get scammed. They get fooled by the influencers, good-looking staff, marble floors, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills locations, and other celebrities.

I don't pedal harmful, useless supplements!

Equally important is the fact that I will not push supplements. It's a shame that some doctors and pseudo-doctors--such as naturopaths, mid-level practitioners, and chiropractors are pushing "supplements." A supplement must have a medical evidence-based benefit, be measurable in a blood test, and come from a reputable source. There is no such thing as a "Testosterone Booster," and there is no such thing as a "Human Growth Hormone Booster." Social media scammers are fooling people into buying "creativity and memory" pills that are full of caffeine and carcinogens. Others are pedaling "nootropics?" Please appreciate that many supplements are neither regulated nor harmless. The rate of colon cancer in Americans under the age of 50 has doubled since the late nineties, primarily due to supplements, chemicals in processed foods, and even pharmaceuticals. I will go over the bottles sitting on top of your fridge with you to make sure we prevent early cancer and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Are you somewhat confused by all the hormone replacement therapy (HRT) noise?

You're not alone. But here is the truth about HRT: It is effective and safe only when done between an actual doctor of medicine and a small community of patients. Instagram and multi-state franchises are banking on shoveling HRT to the masses through mid-level practitioners such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants under the guise of perceived convenience and affordability but without legitimacy and effectiveness. They call their cadre "providers" to hide that they're not doctors. Remember what happened the last time this country scaled up healthcare for the masses? Yup, we ended up with the current state of ineffective and low-value primary care, as reflected by the rising prevalence of obesity, mental disease, colon cancer, polypharmacy, the opioid crisis, accelerated aging, regression of women's reproductive health, rising doctor-patient distrust, and undiagnosed and untreated hypogonadism among both men and women.

More about me?

I attended Hunter College in NYC and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I then completed a Master’s in Epidemiology/Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree at Ross University and completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Mary-Harbor UCLA in Long Beach, California. By now, you know I am deeply passionate about vitality, patient education, and fitness.

In my free time, I enjoy working out, VR gaming, swimming in the ocean, watching the sunset, and keeping up with medical knowledge that is relevant to my patients and what I love doing: HRT.

Best of health!
